MELISSA PARHM | Brief Bio

Classically trained in the United States and Europe, Melissa is a master of the traditional techniques of drawing,  painting and seeks to forge connections between classical and contemporary approaches to art-making by fearlessly combining multiple genres to create unique works.

As an active member of the art community, she exhibits her work, most recently in the upcoming de Young Open Exhibition, at the de Young Museum of Art in San Francisco, Opening September 30, 2023. This will be her second time to be shown at the de Young. Her work was chosen to be featured also at the de Young in The de Young Open in 2020 titled, β€œOn The Edge.” She teaches fine art part-time in the combined outside and virtual classroom setup during this unprecedented time at The New Village School in Sausalito, Ca.

Melissa's body of work is filled with a devotional reverence for nature with a special emphasis on light and ongoing experimentation such as her new series of three-dimensional pleated paintings.
